A scar is not as simple as it seems..

A scar is formed as part of the body's attempt to repair the injured structures. Scar tissue extends beyond the skin surface.

Scar adhesions are bands of internal scar tissue which forms after an injury. These adhesions bind to deeper tissues ie. tendons, fascia and nerves beneath the skin surface. With usually independent layers of structures being bound together by scar adhesions, movement restrictions or unexplained pain may be felt as a result.

Scar tissue mobilisation aims to restore the layers of structures to their original state, allowing free gliding of the individual layers, thereby improving movement restrictions and reduce pain. With an appropriate scar tissue mobilisation technique, subtle improvement could be felt after just one session.

At Ignite Rehab, a scar is in good hands with the S.T.R.A.I.T Method™ being employed as the go-to technique for scar tissue management.

The S.T.R.A.I.T Method™ or Scar Tissue Release and Integrated Therapies is an innovative and ground-breaking three-dimensional, fascial-release system that works to minimize scar tissue development and the subsequent physiological restrictions. It combines fascial-scar work – working with your damaged restricted connective tissues – with mind-body interactions, body mechanics, therapeutic stretching and strengthening, and proprioceptive support.
